Commercial Electrical Field Specialist
Location: Virginia Beach, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire
Shift: Second Shift
Compensation: Starting at $27.00/hour or higher based on experience and demonstrated skill level
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Field Specialist to support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade projects across active commercial facilities and construction sites. This position is ideal for a hands-on electrical professional who enjoys working in the field, solving technical problems, and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with project teams while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction.
Core Functions
- Install, modify, repair, and maintain commercial electrical systems and associated equipment
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions and implement effective corrective actions
- Perform infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements, and system improvements
- Plan and install conduit systems using both manual and powered bending equipment
- Support electrical layouts and installation methods designed for long-term system reliability
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, schematics, and project specifications
- Utilize industry-standard tools and equipment including cable pullers, knockout sets, threaders, drills, and testing devices
- Complete service documentation, inspection records, work orders, and project reports accurately and on time
- Verify completed work meets project specifications and applicable code requirements
- Travel between local job sites to support installation and service activities
- Work safely from ladders, aerial lifts, scaffolding, and elevated work areas when required
- Maintain organized work areas and protect equipment, materials, and job site conditions
- Meet production schedules and project milestones while maintaining workmanship standards
- Adhere to safety procedures including lockout/tagout requirements, confined-space protocols, and site-specific regulations
- Assist with troubleshooting related building systems, including HVAC and refrigeration equipment when applicable
- Participate in technical training, safety meetings, and continuing education opportunities
- Support team objectives through professionalism, communication, and cooperation
- Contribute ideas that improve efficiency, safety, and service quality
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman-level experience in commercial electrical installation and service work
- Preferred minimum of four years of experience performing commercial electrical troubleshooting and installation
- Strong understanding of electrical theory, industry standards, and safe work practices
- Demonstrated ability to independently bend, route, and install conduit systems
- Experience using electrical hand tools, testing equipment, and power tools commonly found on commercial job sites
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and professionalism
Preferred Background
- Experience working with HVAC, refrigeration, or related mechanical systems
- Exposure to multiple commercial projects running simultaneously
- Background in commercial construction, facility maintenance, service operations, or renovation projects
- Experience interacting directly with customers, contractors, or facility personnel
Training & Compliance
- Ability to complete required safety certifications and project-specific compliance training
- Willingness to participate in ongoing technical, operational, and safety development programs
- Commitment to maintaining safe work practices and regulatory compliance
