InvestEngine is an ETF investment platform for individuals and businesses. The team focuses on making investing simple, low-cost, and transparent — with a product customers genuinely enjoy using.
They operate in a regulated environment and put a lot of care into clear, fair communication and a strong customer experience across app, web, and all customer touchpoints. Design is one of the key differentiators, and InvestEngine is strengthening how the design function operates as the company grows.
The roleInvestEngine is hiring a Head of Product Design to lead the day-to-day work of the product design function and help scale how design operates across the company.
This is a management and leadership role — you’ll be accountable for the team’s output: quality, consistency, pace, and an increasing reliance on evidence (data, research, and structured UX analytics). A key part of the mandate is improving how the function runs: clearer ownership, data-driven prioritisation, and practical use of AI and modern tooling to increase speed and scalability.
What you’ll be doingManaging and developing the design team: structured 1:1s, goal-setting, feedback, and coaching
Hiring as the team grows: defining requirements, interviewing, and onboarding
Owning design delivery and operating model: intake, prioritisation, SLAs, delivery tracking, and stakeholder satisfaction
Building a data-informed practice: usability testing, research routines, UX metrics baselines, journey analytics, and evidence-based prioritisation
Governing design quality: standards, review gates, and consistency across product (without being the main IC designer)
Scaling the design system with engineering: documentation, reuse, handoff quality, and adoption tracking
Driving practical adoption of AI/tooling: clear use cases, workflow integration, and measurable impact (not isolated experiments)
5+ years in product design (or equivalent) with strong design judgement, even if this role is primarily leadership/operations
3+ years of people management experience (hiring, performance management, coaching)
Experience improving team ways of working: prioritisation, delivery predictability, and quality gates
Strong analytical approach: comfortable with research, UX metrics, journey analytics, and evidence-based decision-making
Excellent English communication (written and spoken) and strong stakeholder management
