About LondonEnergy

At LondonEnergy, we’re proud of our vital role in managing North London’s waste and protecting the environment. As part of the team, you’ll already know that we handle and process 750,000 tonnes of waste each year, making us the second largest waste contract in the UK.

Together, we generate enough energy from waste to power around 80,000 homes annually and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres. This is only possible thanks to the dedication of our people, who make a real difference every day.

About the role

You will join LondonEnergy as an E&I Technician with a focus on Distributed Control Systems (DCS), playing a key role in the safe and reliable operation of the Energy Centre.

As the DCS Technician, you will be responsible for the ownership, operation, and ongoing performance of all DCS-related PLC and UPS systems across the site. This includes the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UPS systems and leading industrial control platforms such as Valmet, Siemens, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi.

You will ensure all activities are carried out in line with company procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements, while also supporting the wider business by delivering preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform condition monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, software updates, and calibration of Control, UPS, communication, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
  • Administer control and communication system changes under Management of Change, ensuring password integrity and system compliance.
  • Manage spare parts and critical spares strategy, including procurement support and end-of-life planning for all associated systems.
  • Liaise with internal departments, service providers, vendors, contractors, and E&I teams to coordinate maintenance and projects safely and effectively.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs and improvements independently, safely, and within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, LEL procedures, safety rules, and CMMS requirements, including reporting and documentation.
  • Support training and supervision of staff and contractors, including inspections, audits, and continuous skills development.
