About School of Coding & AI

Established in 2017, School of Coding & AI is now one of the UK’s leading providers of Coding and Computer Science education. We work with over 150 schools, colleges and businesses, and support thousands of children and adults every month across STEM, Coding, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Business.

We have partnered with the University of Wolverhampton and Harper Adams University to launch our first Higher Education Institute. Our goal is simple, deliver high quality, career focused education that gives learners a genuine edge.

We are a growing, ambitious organisation. We value people who are proactive, collaborative and comfortable working in a fast paced environment where new ideas are encouraged.

About the role

This is not a standalone English teaching post. We deliver partner university degree programmes in Business Management, Health and Social Care, and Computing and IT. Many of our learners are international adults and, while they are capable, some need additional support with academic English, study skills, and confidence in communication to reach the standard required to pass assessments and graduate.

You will provide structured academic English and study skills support across programmes, with a strong focus on improving written work, comprehension of learning materials, and spoken communication in tutorials and presentations. You will work closely with teaching teams to target the support where it has the biggest impact on progression and outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Academic English and study skills support:

  • Teaching large group sessions focused on academic writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and spoken communication.
  • Run practical workshops on topics such as structuring assignments, paragraphing, clarity, critical reading, paraphrasing, and referencing.
  • Help students understand assessment briefs, marking criteria, and feedback so they can improve future submissions.

Assessment support, marking, and feedback:

  • Review written drafts for clarity, structure, academic tone, grammar, and coherence, while maintaining academic integrity.
  • Provide clear, developmental feedback that students can apply independently, without rewriting work for them.
  • Support marking and moderation activities where required, in line with internal processes and partner university expectations.

Academic integrity and student progression:

  • Coach students on plagiarism avoidance, paraphrasing skills, and appropriate use of sources and referencing.
  • Identify learners at risk due to language barriers and put support plans in place with programme teams.
  • Track engagement and progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to progression reporting.

Collaboration and quality:

  • Work with module leaders and programme teams to align expectations for writing quality and improve consistency of feedback.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities and continuous improvement of learning support resources.
  • Signpost students to wider support where needed, including wellbeing or pastoral support routes.
