The OSP Field Installation and Repair Technician (Lead) is an advanced field technician role responsible for the deployment, activation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of GoNetspeedâs Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network. This position supports residential and small to medium business customers and operates with a high level of independence in the field.Â

This role requires strong technical expertise, accountability, and leadership, with a significant emphasis on advanced Wi Fi performance, in home networking, and customer experience. The Lead Technician works independently on assigned work while also serving as a technical escalation resource for internal technicians and contract installation partners.Â

Job SummaryÂ
⢠  Independently install, troubleshoot, and repair FTTH services for residential and small to medium business customersÂ
⢠  Lead complex installations, service activations, and advanced trouble resolution with minimal supervisionÂ
⢠  Serve as a technical escalation point for fiber, Wi Fi, and in home networking issuesÂ
⢠  Support and assist contract installation resources to ensure consistent quality and customer experienceÂ
⢠  Support inventory counts, distribution and reconciliation as needed.
⢠  Assists management in workload resource scheduling as needed
⢠  Participate in a rotating on call schedule to support after hours service restoration and critical outagesÂ

Primary ResponsibilitiesÂ
Fiber Installation & ServiceÂ
⢠  Complete FTTH installations including fiber drops, ONTs, network interface devices, in home wiring, and routersÂ
⢠  Perform fiber testing, troubleshooting, splicing, and field repairÂ
⢠  Configure customer networking equipmentÂ
⢠  Perform interior customer phone backfeeding onlyÂ
⢠  Work independently while maintaining quality and safety standardsÂ
 Advanced Wi Fi & NetworkingÂ
⢠  Perform advanced Wi Fi troubleshooting related to coverage, interference, and performanceÂ
⢠  Install and troubleshoot mesh Wi Fi and extender systemsÂ
⢠  Resolve Wi Fi issues during installs and trouble ticketsÂ
 Contractor OversightÂ
⢠  Act as a point of escalation for contract installation resourcesÂ
⢠  Assist with troubleshooting, workmanship correction, and standard adherenceÂ
Leadership & SafetyÂ
⢠  Serve as a technical resource for other techniciansÂ
⢠  Maintain documentation, tools, inventory, and safety complianceÂ

⢠Strong understanding of FTTH architecture and service practicesÂ
⢠Advanced Wi Fi and home networking troubleshooting skillsÂ

RequirementsÂ
⢠Valid driverâs licenseÂ
⢠Strong verbal and written communication skillsÂ

Education & ExperienceÂ
⢠High School Diploma or equivalent requiredÂ
⢠Prior FTTH experience strongly preferredÂ
⢠Lead or senior technician experience preferredÂ
Preferred CertificationsÂ
⢠FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or equivalentÂ
⢠OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
