Your Role as a Cost Analyst
As a Cost Analyst, you will serve as a key financial partner to project and leadership teams, supporting cost control, forecasting, and financial accuracy across multifamily construction and real estate development projects. This role blends analytical rigor with operational insight, functioning as an internal advisor who helps teams understand cost drivers, reduce financial risk, and improve budget performance.
Working closely with Project Management, Construction, and Finance teams, you will analyze project expenses, track performance metrics, and provide actionable insights that support smarter decisions from project start through closeout. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys translating complex financial data into meaningful guidance for construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Management teams as part of the construction cost control and financial oversight function
- Analyze project financials, including costs, commitments, and forecasts, and prepare invoices where applicable
- Research and interpret expenses to support cost control strategies and financial accountability
- Review and analyze project budgets, monitoring actual costs against forecasts and projections
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making by project teams and executive leadership
- Manage budget imports and maintain the accuracy and integrity of cost tracking systems
- Utilize forecasting tools, including GC forecasting and Gain/Fade analysis, to evaluate project performance
- Review production summaries and vendor production rates to ensure financial and operational accuracy
- Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting and reporting discrepancies
- Recommend cost reduction opportunities and process improvement initiatives
- Conduct process reviews and implement efficiency enhancements related to cost reporting and controls
- Prepare and distribute monthly project financial and performance reports
- Support project closeout processes, ensuring financial completeness and timely completion
Our Ideal Candidate for this Role
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in cost analysis, accounting, project controls, or a related role
- Experience supporting construction or real estate development projects preferred
