About the Role
As an Electrical Technician Instructor (Electrician Instructor / Electrical Trainer), you will deliver classroom and hands-on lab instruction covering electrical systems, safety, and industry best practices.
This role is ideal for experienced electricians, electrical technicians, maintenance electricians, and trades professionals who want to combine technical expertise with teaching and mentorship.
Work Schedule
- Full-Time Schedule Options:
- Day Shift: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
- Afternoon/Evening Shift: Monday – Thursday, 1:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.; Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach electrical theory, wiring, systems, and troubleshooting in both classroom and lab settings
- Deliver engaging instruction aligned with industry standards, codes, and workforce expectations
- Instruct students on the proper and safe use of tools, materials, and equipment, emphasizing OSHA standards and jobsite safety procedures
- Create a positive classroom and lab environment that supports student engagement, collaboration, and retention
- Maintain and update lesson plans, instructional materials, and lab activities in collaboration with program leadership
- Monitor and document student attendance, academic progress, and performance in accordance with institutional guidelines
- Accurately enter grades, evaluations, and required documentation into school systems on time
- Ensure classrooms and labs remain clean, organized, safe, and fully equipped, reporting maintenance or supply needs as needed
- Support student success through coaching, mentoring, and proactive engagement strategies
- Participate in required training, in-service sessions, and staff meetings to remain current in instructional methods and industry trends
- Stay informed of industry advancements and maintain required certifications
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and safety regulations
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Program Coordinator or Campus Leadership
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience in the electrical trade OR three (3) years of teaching experience in electrical or related programs
- Strong understanding of electrical tools, systems, codes, and safety practices
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on student engagement and instructional clarity
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
- Highly organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Positive and professional attitude, with a commitment to student success
Preferred Qualifications
- National Center for Construction Education and Research (The NCCER ICTP Certification is required before instructors start teaching classes. Company will pay for certification.)
- OSHA 30-hour safety certification within 6 months of hire date.
- CPR certification current or within 3 months of hire date.
- Electrical Journeyman or Master License preferred
