A Cost Engineer at Cadillac Formula 1® team plays an important role within the Programme Office, providing financial insight to key cost drivers of components and assemblies, as well as data-driven analysis to identify cost reduction initiatives across the lifecycle of a part. Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the output of the Cost Engineers role will contribute to informed decision-making, greater cost efficiency, and strong cost predictability. Detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, that helps influence design-for-cost considerations. The greater our cost efficiency, the more performance we can add to the car.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with early phase project and part cost estimation to support programme evaluation, enabling accurate cost vs performance tradeoffs, and alignment with season cost targets and Cost Cap constraints
  • Influence design for cost considerations by working with engineers to assess the cost impacts of materials, manufacturing methods, part complexity, tolerances, and lifecycle
  • Drive cost efficiency by identifying cost drivers, inefficiencies, and non-value adding activities within engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain processes
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost models for components, assemblies, tooling, and programmes, incorporating labour, machine time, materials, and overhead absorption
