At OQC, we aren’t just theorising about the future; we’re building it. Born from a philosophy of bold innovation, we’ve successfully transitioned quantum computing from an academic dream into a commercial reality. The most exciting thing is that we’re just getting started.
As a Solutions Architect at OQC, you’ll sit at the intersection of cutting-edge quantum technology and real-world customer challenges. Working closely with customers, commercial teams, and product specialists, you’ll design and develop quantum applications that demonstrate the value of quantum computing today while shaping the roadmap for tomorrow.
The Role
As part of our Global Commercial Team, you’ll partner directly with customers to translate complex business problems into quantum-enabled solutions. You’ll develop algorithms, proof-of-concepts, and benchmarking models that help organisations evaluate and adopt quantum computing, while feeding valuable customer insight back into product and application development.
Please note for this role we can not consider candidates who require sponsorship.
What You'll Be Working On
- Collaborating with customers, account managers, and business development teams to scope and develop quantum use cases and applications
- Working with defence and national security stakeholders to identify high-value quantum computing use cases
- Designing and implementing quantum algorithms and hybrid quantum-classical solutions tailored to customer challenges
- Building and optimising models for OQC’s quantum hardware and product suite
- Developing proof-of-concepts and novel technical approaches to demonstrate customer value
- Benchmarking quantum approaches against classical baselines and defining meaningful evaluation metrics
- Delivering technical workshops, presentations, and proposal support for prospective and existing customers
- Sharing customer insights, algorithm developments, and emerging techniques with product and global solutions teams to influence future roadmaps
What We're Looking For
- PhD, post-doctoral experience, or significant industry experience involving application development for physical quantum computers
- Hands-on experience creating quantum algorithms and quantum optimisation solutions
- Experience working with defence, government, aerospace, or national security customers
- Strong Python programming skills, including experience with relevant Python libraries
- Experience developing hybrid quantum-classical applications
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to communicate highly technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience translating customer or partner requirements into technical solutions
- Strong understanding of computational complexity and performance evaluation
- Ability to review, improve, and optimise software code
- A collaborative and customer-focused mindset with strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills
The 'Nice-to-Haves'
- Experience with linear and nonlinear optimisation methods
- Commercial software development experience
- Experience with distributed computing or concurrent processing models
- Familiarity with project management tools and version control systems
- Knowledge of emerging quantum algorithms, benchmarking approaches, and error-mitigation techniques
- Experience working closely with external partners or enterprise customers in technical delivery environments
