The Business Insights team collaborates with various departments across the company, analysing widely differing data sources and providing actionable insights designed to improve the company’s proposition and commercial performance. We transform and model our data until it is in the format required for robust analysis and drive ever greater understanding of business performance, customer behaviour, and the impact of proposed and actual changes our strategies. We execute ad hoc analysis on a range of topics to help inform C-suite decision-making and leverage data science techniques for the development of propensity models to ensure timely and targeted engagement with our customers.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate to join our team is curious, gets excited by puzzles, and has extensive experience in customer & consumer insights roles. They are impatient to see improvements and use their initiative and a healthy dose of pragmatism to ascertain what is required to help progress the company. They have excellent communication skills. Ideally, they have managerial experience, and are looking to develop a team to uncover deeper insights and drive AI integration in the insights function. First-time managers will also be considered. The level of the role (manager or senior manager) will be determined by the experience of the successful candidate.
Role Purpose:
In this role, you will support the Head of Business Insights with the management of the Business Insights Team, developing the team’s vision and a matching insights strategy . You will have 3-6 direct reports (depending on managerial experience), ranging in levels of seniority. You will work with stakeholders across the business, including the C-suite, to identify and prioritise insights needs, subsequently scoping and planning these projects with your team and overseeing delivery, offering support and guidance where required. You will take the lead on complex projects.
You will be a driving force in data quality improvements and in the development of new techniques and new technologies, nurturing an environment where insight is trusted and accessible. You will identify and implement opportunities for process optimisation and automation within the data analytics workflow, and evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to improve data analytics capabilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a part of the Business Insights team on all day-to-day matters, setting clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations, reviewing and guiding work to ensure quality and consistency.
- Design and manage insights projects, from brief through to delivery of insights.
- Drive alignment on priorities to drive short and long term value.
- Solve complex problems through structured analysis and innovative thinking.
- Be the driving force behind process improvements and the roll out of new techniques and technologies with an emphasis on scalable solutions.
- Continuous engagement with stakeholders ensuring a full understanding of current and emerging needs.
- Drive adoption of insight across the organisation.
- Develop excellent working relationships across the Yuno Group.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
- Strong leadership skills: capable of articulating vision, aligning teams around common goals, and managing performance against defined outcomes.
- Highly analytical with excellent problem-solving abilities, a strong focus on accuracy, and the ability to derive actionable insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and at least one data visualisation tool (e.g. Power BI).
- Excellent communication skills; the ability to explain complex concepts to various audiences.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguous and fast-changing environments, whilst maintaining high quality standards.
- Experience in the energy sector, telecoms or utilities is advantageous but not essential.
