To support this, we are looking for a Senior Cost Engineer (m/f/d) with strong technical costing expertise and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical products. In this role, you will create cost transparency for components, assemblies, and complete machines through bottom-up calculations and should-cost models. Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, Supplier Operations, and our System Suppliers, you will evaluate design options, challenge supplier quotations, and identify cost improvement opportunities. This role complements our Cost Value Engineer with a dedicated focus on detailed cost calculation and should-cost analysis. Apply now and join our team in Munich! Cost Engineering & Modeling: You prepare and maintain bottom-up cost calculations and should-cost models for components, assemblies, and complete machines, while continuously improving costing assumptions, templates, and databases Cost Analysis & Technical Breakdown: You analyze drawings, BOMs, specifications, manufacturing assumptions, and supplier quotations to identify and structure key cost drivers Design-to-Cost & Optimization: You evaluate design alternatives, materials, and manufacturing concepts from a cost perspective and identify and quantify improvement opportunities across design, process, and sourcing Benchmarking & Decision Support: You conduct cost and benchmark analyses across suppliers, components, and manufacturing approaches and support make-or-buy decisions, supplier selection, and industrialization topics Supplier & Cross-Functional Collaboration: You support supplier negotiations with transparent cost breakdowns and work closely with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and suppliers to assess cost impacts of design changes and ensure implementation quality Stakeholder Communication: You prepare structured, decision-ready analyses and management materials for internal stakeholders Your fitness level Education: You hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable qualification Professional Experience: You bring 7+ years of experience in cost engineering, should-costing, or industrial engineering Cost Engineering & Technical Expertise: You have strong expertise in analyzing and calculating costs for mechanical, steel-based, electrical, and electro-mechanical components and are confident in reading technical drawings, BOMs, and product structures to build robust cost models Manufacturing & Tools: You bring a solid understanding of key manufacturing processes such as welding, sheet metal forming, machining, assembly, and electrical or electronic manufacturing and have hands-on experience with cost calculation tools such as Hyperlean, aPriori, or comparable solutions, as well as ERP systems and structured data analysis Analytical & Communication Skills: You combine strong analytical thinking and a structured working style with excellent communication skills, enabling you to translate complex technical and commercial data into decision-ready insights and collaborate effectively across functions; you are fluent in English, German is a plus Your training goal for your first 6 months Tool & Process Mastery: You quickly build a strong understanding of our tools and internal processes and apply them effectively in your daily work Stakeholder Integration: You build strong working relationships across teams during your on-site onboarding in Munich Product & Production Insight: You develop a solid understanding of our training equipment as well as the manufacturing environments of our system suppliers Costing Capability: You become confident in using our costing tools and deliver your first independent cost calculations The equipment we provide Modern & International: Be part of an international company culture where talent and passion are valued, heard and included in the decision-making process Work-Life Balance: Benefit from flexible working hours, hybrid workplace model (4 days in the office, 1 day home office) and 30 days of vacation per year Mentoring Program: Exchange knowledge and grow together across teams and locations through our self-organized mentoring platform Fit & Healthy : Train for free with EGYM Wellpass and use our in-house gym, equipped with EGYM Smart Strength and Smart Flex machines Employee Discounts : Have access to a variety of great discounted offers, from fashion to leisure, through our employee benefits portal Bike Leasing : Stay active by taking advantage of our bike leasing offer for your commute or leisure activities Subsidized Pension : Profit from our employer-subsidized pension Flex Budget: Use €60 per month flexibly for public transportation and a meal subsidy Rooftop Terrace : Enjoy your lunch breaks or an after work drinks with your colleagues on our roof terrace when in the office Contact Information Apply now (CV, salary expectations, and earliest possible start date) and specify the job ID #1962.
