Backend Engineer

AI Agents & Workflows

TypeScript / PostgreSQL / LangChain

Berlin

My client isn't looking for someone to maintain a system. They're looking for someone to own it entirely.

They're a growing company in the communications space, building an AI-first backend that functions like an operating system for their entire organisation. The infrastructure is in place, the use cases are proven, and now they need the right engineer to take full ownership of the technical layer and push it further.

The role

This is a senior backend role with genuine autonomy. You'll architect and evolve a system of AI agents, automated workflows, and data pipelines that power the whole business. You'll work directly with leadership, make real technical decisions, and set the standards the rest of the team follows. No approval chains, no micromanagement, just ownership.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and maintaining AI agents and workflow automations using LangChain and low/no-code platforms
  • Owning the full system architecture, data structures, API flows, compliance, and tech stack evolution
  • Developing and scaling the Supabase architecture, including relational and vector databases
  • Coaching the wider team and documenting the systems you build

The stack: TypeScript · PostgreSQL · LangChain · Supabase · Azure OpenAI ·

What they're looking for

  • 5+ years of professional experience, including 2+ in software development
  • Strong TypeScript and PostgreSQL skills, confident across SQL, API and schema design
  • German at B2 level minimum (C1 preferred, language support available in year one)
  • Based in Berlin, or willing to relocate
  • A systemic thinker who takes pride in ownership and genuinely cares about AI and automation

Why join them?

Full technical ownership from day one

Direct access to leadership with real influence over direction

Optional path to tech leadership as the company scales

If you want to be the person who builds how a modern organisation runs, not just a cog in it, this is the role.
