Contract Motor Control / FOC Engineer


HaloBraid is building robotic systems for the professional beauty industry and is looking for an experienced motor controls engineer to help improve the performance of several BLDC-driven subsystems.


Our team has already implemented an initial control system. We are looking for someone with deep expertise in Field-Oriented Control (FOC) who can help improve smoothness, low-speed performance, responsiveness, stability, and overall motion quality.


What You’ll Do

  • Analyze and improve existing motor-control systems

  • Tune and optimize FOC implementations

  • Reduce noise, vibration, and instability

  • Improve low-speed control and motion smoothness

  • Recommend motor-control hardware and architecture

  • Work closely with our mechanical, electrical, and embedded teams

What We’re Looking For

  • Significant experience with BLDC motors and FOC

  • Strong controls and embedded systems fundamentals

  • Experience tuning real-world electromechanical systems

  • Ability to work hands-on with hardware

  • 2 week - 1 month contract with potential to extend for future work

Nice to Have

  • Robotics or mechatronics experience

  • Experience with STM32, ESP32, ODrive, VESC, or similar platforms

  • Experience taking products from prototype to production

Greater Boston Area preferred, but open to US-based remote contractors who have access to electronics equipment.
