Position Overview

This is a new and exciting position, due to our growth and expansion. This will be a challenging and strategic role and for the right individual, it will be a chance for them to put their own stamp on it.

We are seeking a qualified EHS/Safety Manager, ideally familiar or has worked within the semiconductor industry, with a safety engineering degree (or equivalent) and 10+ years of construction safety experience (3+ years in team management).

The Onsite EHS Manager will lead and manage all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities at a semiconductor manufacturing/client facility. This role ensures full compliance with local regulations, corporate standards, and client-specific requirements while fostering a proactive safety culture in a high-tech, fast-paced cleanroom environment.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary EHS point of contact for the client, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring safe operations across manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and support functions.

EHS Leadership & Management

  • Act as the onsite EHS lead and primary liaison with the semiconductor client’s EHS team.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs aligned with industry best practices and client expectations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through leadership, engagement, and behavioural safety initiatives.
  • Provide strategic direction on EHS risks associated with semiconductor manufacturing operations.

Regulatory Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g. OSHA,IOSH, EPA, HSA, NISO, local authority requirements).
  • Maintain alignment with international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • Manage audits and inspections (internal, client, and external regulatory bodies).
  • Ensure all required permits, licenses, and documentation are maintained and up to date.

Risk Management & Incident Prevention

  • Lead risk assessments (JHAs/JSA, HAZOP where applicable) across operations including cleanrooms, chemical handling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Identify hazards related to gases, chemicals (e.g. acids, solvents), robotics, and high-voltage systems typical in semiconductor environments.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions from inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Lead root cause investigations for incidents, near misses, and non-conformances.

Cleanroom & Semiconductor-Specific Safety

  • Oversee EHS controls related to cleanroom operations (gowning protocols, contamination control, ergonomic practices).
  • Ensure safe management of hazardous chemicals, specialty gases, and waste streams.
  • Monitor and enforce safety procedures related to process tools, vacuum systems, and confined spaces.
  • Partner with engineering and construction teams on safe installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of tools.

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Manage contractor EHS onboarding, training, and compliance.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to both company and client EHS requirements.
  • Conduct contractor audits and field safety observations.
  • Support Permit-to-Work systems (LOTO, confined space, hot work, etc.).

Training & Communication

  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs tailored to semiconductor operations.
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory safety training requirements.
  • Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
  • Drive EHS communication across all levels of the organisation.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Develop and maintain site emergency response plans (chemical spills, fire, gas leaks, etc.).
  • Coordinate emergency drills and ensure readiness of emergency response teams.
  • Liaise with local emergency services and client emergency teams.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Track and report EHS KPIs (TRIR, near misses, audit findings, corrective actions).
  • Prepare reports for internal leadership and client stakeholders.
  • Use data analytics to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
