At the heart of everything we do is our vision to change lives every day, and our mission to grow The National Lottery responsibly and champion its impact.

We are Allwyn UK, part of the Allwyn Entertainment Group – a multi-national lottery operator with a market-leading presence across the USA (Michigan and Illinois) and Europe, including Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Cyprus and Italy.

While the main contribution of The National Lottery to society is through the funds to good causes, at Allwyn we put our purpose and values at the heart of everything we do.  Join us as we embark on a once-in-a-lifetime, largescale transformation journey by creating a National Lottery that delivers more money to good causes.

We’ll talk a bit more about us further down the page, but for now – let’s talk about the role and who we’re looking for…

 A bit about the role

The Fourth Licence represents a step-change in the approach to regulating the National Lottery. It is centred on an outcomes-focused approach to regulation and reflects the Statutory Duties of the Commission. This approach places increased responsibility and accountability on the Licensee to operate the National Lottery to achieve outcomes consistent with the National Lottery etc. Act 1993.

In practice, increased Licensee ownership places greater emphasis on internal management and assurance, including Strategies, Policies, Processes and Procedures (SPPP) and broader aspects of outcomes delivery, which are used to provide Gambling Commission with assurance of compliance with the Fourth Licence, including through the provision of key assurance artefacts including the Annual Assurance Statement and Annual Resilience Assurance Statement as required by the Fourth Licence.

Working for the Head of Regulatory Assurance, the Regulatory Assurance Manager will play a key role in helping the business maintain proportionate standards of regulatory assurance that support delivery of our commercial plans and regulatory outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

 SPPP

- Maintaining a proportionate, best practice approach to SPPP to ensure these remain fit for purpose in an agile, dynamic and innovation-driven business while driving quality and a continual improvement approach

- Providing assurance on compliance with licence conditions relating to SPPP and assurance including through:

▪  Overseeing and coordination delivery of the annual regulatory assurance requirements for SPPP in collaboration with functional stakeholders

▪  Providing guidance on when SPPP are required to be created or updated as a result of changes in business activity.

▪  Managing the delivery of relevant board assurance requirements, with oversight from senior team members.

o Managing the evolution of the structure and templates for SPPP to ensure useability and support commercially effective, customer-focussed compliant operations.  Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that SPPP are easily discoverable and accessible by business users.

Assurance

- Working with the Head of Regulatory Assurance and Transformation, leading development of key assurance artefacts (such as the Annual Assurance Statement) for the Board and Gambling Commission, including engagement with key internal stakeholders and contributors, contributing to drafting, quality assurance and identifying priority areas for assurance activity in the following annual cycle

- Identify and develop responses for matters requiring regulatory assurance including engaging on issues identified internally or by the regulator

What experience we’re looking for

  •  Excellent organisational and coordination skills, and the ability to own and deliver scope in line with strategic and operational direction.
  • Strong experience with writing, owning and/or managing business and regulatory documentation, i.e Strategies, Policies and Procedures and regulatory reports
  • Experience leading development and submission of high quality regulatory/assurance material suitable for Board and regulatory submission, in line with agreed strategic direction and approach
  • Experience translating regulatory and/or assurance/compliance requirements into effective and proportionate actions that deliver business outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability the represent the function internally and externally as required.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and effective stakeholder management
  • Initiative and a fresh approach to problem solving.
  • Upwards management and the ability to both deliver the work and show that it is being delivered.
  • Experience in a fast-paced regulated environment

Key Measures of Success

  • An SPPP framework that is clear and useable by functional owners which captures relevant best practice and is focussed on delivering quality customer outcomes
  • The approval and submission of robust, defensible key regulatory artefacts which clearly demonstrate how Allwyn is delivering Licence outcomes and meeting compliance requirements.
  • Effective working relationships between Second Line Assurance and functional stakeholders to support practical, effective and compliant operations and understanding of regulatory assurance requirements.

At Allwyn, we are dedicated to changing lives and growing the National Lottery responsibly, championing its positive impact on people, places, and the planet.

  • Innovation - We pride ourselves on it! We’re constantly looking for new ways to excite our customers, bringing new products to market to enjoy which is all supported by our responsible play values and making them accessible to all.
  • Giving back – Did you know that playing the lottery generates around £30m a week for charities and good causes in the UK? Our aim is to have doubled this number by the end of the first 10-year license.
  • Sustainability – Our aim is to become a net zero national lottery. We have 2030 targets to decarbonise our operations and energy. We’ve already transitioned to renewable energy providers, made our London and Watford offices zero gas, and ensured our fleet consists of low-emission vehicles. In addition, we’re working with our value chain partners to develop a net zero target date.
  • Empowering every voice – We believe in creating a culture where everyone feels they belong, can be themselves, has access to opportunities and can thrive for the benefit of good causes.  Our diverse teams are working hard to make all parts of The National Lottery inclusive – whether people play a game in a store or online, because when everyone can play, everyone wins..
