This is a career-defining opportunity to join New Zealand’s Marketing Team of the Year, a core part of one of the most disruptive businesses in the world.

The Paid Media team works across ZURU Toys — now the 5th largest toy manufacturer in the US — and ZURU Edge, one of the fastest-growing FMCG businesses globally. ZURU is scaling at pace across multiple categories and markets, building challenger brands that are reshaping entrenched incumbents through speed, data, and digital-first execution.

From launching new brands into global retail at record pace, winning Walmart and Target Supplier of the Year in 2025, three brands on the Bain and Co Insurgent Brands List 2025 to driving rapid penetration through digital-first media, the team is operating at a level of global scale and ambition rarely seen out of New Zealand. The trajectory of these businesses means ZURU is on track to become the largest media investor in New Zealand by 2027.

We are opening multiple new media planning roles to match the growing nature of our business. This is an Expression of Interest as we are building a pipeline of media planning talent across the ZURU Group, spanning ZURU Edge (FMCG) and ZURU Toys.

We’re open to candidates from Planning Executive through to Director level, with experience in paid media planning, buying, or strategy.

These are not typical media roles. You’ll plan and activate strategies and campaigns for brands that are disrupting categories on a global stage, from XSHOT and Mini Brands to MONDAY Haircare, DAISE, Rascals, and BONKERS, billions of consumers across international markets simultaneously.

The scale here is real. You’ll manage media relationships and investment across multiple markets, work directly with platform partners like Google, TikTok, Meta, Walmart Connect and Roundel, building the kind of relationships that unlock first-mover access, betas, and best-in-class creative partnerships.

Whether you’re a media exec ready to own your first full-funnel plan, or a senior planner looking to lead strategy across a portfolio of challenger brands with significant global footprints, ZURU offers scope and speed that typically takes years to find elsewhere.

What helps you win here

Experience & mindset

• Experience in paid media planning or buying, whether you’re just starting to own your first media plan or leading a team and setting channel strategy across a global portfolio, we have roles to fit.

• Hands-on knowledge of paid social platforms including Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, and how to make each one work hard for a brand. Experience in US Retail Media a bonus.

• The ability to fully understand the customer – how they consume media, what influences them to make a purchase decision, what messages they are most open to. This curiosity will drive you to generate media decisioning to match the fast-moving consumer trends.

• A desire to map media activity to sales. Measurement is critical, so finding innovative solutions to prove the role of media and marketing is critical.

• A test and learn mindset — you fire bullets before cannonballs, move fast, fail fast, and use what you learn to go bigger

• Proven ability to juggle multiple campaigns and priorities in fast-moving environments without losing focus or quality

Skills that matter

• Strong written and verbal communication. You can present a plan, articulate your craft and tell a compelling story with data

• Experience with budget management, audience insights and cross-channel planning

• Analytical and outcome-focused. You care about what the numbers mean, not just what they say

• Natural collaborator. You work closely with marketing, sales, creative, content and commercial teams to make sure paid media is pulling its weight on business outcomes, not just impressions

• Comfortable with ambiguity and energised by building things that don’t have a playbook yet

Bonus points if

• You’ve built direct relationships with platform reps at Google, TikTok, or Meta and know how to activate those partnerships

• You’ve worked across FMCG and/or consumer goods brands with significant media budgets across multiple markets

• You’re looking for a place where 2 years feels like a decade of growth because the learning curve is that steep
