Bitterne Park School is seeking a committed and compassionate Pastoral Support Worker to join our inclusive and supportive school community.

This is a key role within our pastoral team, working directly with students to ensure they feel safe, supported and ready to learn. You will play a vital part in helping young people navigate social, emotional and behavioural challenges, enabling them to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

At Bitterne Park School, we are proud of our strong culture of respect, ambition and care. As a Pastoral Support Worker, you will contribute directly to this by building meaningful relationships with students and acting as a trusted adult who can provide guidance, challenge and support where needed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing targeted one-to-one and small group support for students facing social, emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Supporting the development of positive behaviour, resilience and self-regulation strategies
  • Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral leaders, families and external agencies to coordinate effective support
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate, high-quality records in line with safeguarding requirements
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment where all students can succeed

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates empathy, resilience and a calm, consistent approach
  • Is passionate about supporting young people and making a tangible difference
  • Can work effectively as part of a team whilst also using their own initiative

In return, we offer the opportunity to work in a thriving, forward-thinking school with a strong sense of community, alongside a dedicated and supportive staff team. This is a genuinely rewarding role where you will see the direct impact of your work every day.
