About the role:
Forter is looking for a Senior II Software Engineer to join the CX Platform team, the foundational engineering team powering Forter's entire Customer Experience group. This is a high-impact, hands-on role at the intersection of backend engineering, AI infrastructure, and customer-facing product.
You'll work across the full platform stack (backend services, data pipelines, security, cost, and scale) with a meaningful and growing focus on AI infrastructure. We own the agentic platform for the entire Product Offering group: from building the LLM infrastructure and agentic workflows to ensuring they're reliable, observable, and safe in production.
Why should you join us?
AI at Forter isn't a side project. It's a strategic priority, and the CX Platform team sits at the center of it. We own the AI infrastructure for the entire Product Offering group, which means your work has wide reach and real stakes.
You'll be working with modern agentic patterns, like AWS Bedrock and LangChain, building features that are genuinely novel and not just wrapping someone else's chatbot. If you want a role where backend depth, product instinct, and AI engineering all matter equally, this is it.
What you'll be doing:
- Own core platform infrastructure - Build and maintain the shared backend services, data pipelines, and infrastructure that CX product teams depend on, with a constant eye on scale, reliability, performance, and cost.
- Design resilient data foundations - Work across Elasticsearch, Snowflake, MySQL, Redis, and Kafka to keep data pipelines fast, fresh, and dependable.
- Contribute to agentic AI features and infrastructure - Build and maintain LLM-powered workflows using LangChain and AWS Bedrock. You'll be contributing to production systems and helping establish solid engineering patterns around reliability, observability, and cost.
- Drive agentic transformation from within - Actively look for opportunities to apply agentic tools and workflows to how the team itself operates, not just what we ship to customers. We expect engineers here to use their creativity to help themselves and those around them do more.
- Support in-house demos and GTM integrations - We own Forter's demo infrastructure and customer integration tooling. You'll occasionally join customer calls or support Sales and Implementation teams directly.
- Collaborate cross-functionally - Work with Product, Product Design, GTM, Sales, Implementation, and Analytics to turn ambiguous requirements into clear, well-scoped solutions.
- Drive end-to-end delivery - Own initiatives from design through production, contribute hands-on, and hold a high quality bar throughout.
What you'll need:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Solid hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems - AWS, Kubernetes, queues (Kafka/SQS), and datastores (Elasticsearch, Snowflake, MySQL, Redis). You understand how to design for scale, cost, and reliability.
- Experience building customer-facing products - you think about the end user, not just the system.
- Strong ability to work with non-technical stakeholders - you can explain technical tradeoffs clearly to product managers, designers, GTM, and customers, and you're comfortable doing so.
- Ability to work effectively across team boundaries - partnering with other engineering teams and contributing to initiatives beyond your immediate squad.
- Deep systems thinking - you design with maintainability, observability, and failure modes in mind from the start.
- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to drive projects forward autonomously.
It’d be really cool if you also have:
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, agentic workflows, or AI infrastructure (LangChain, AWS Bedrock, or similar)
- Experience with React and Next.js or other modern frontend frameworks
- Knowledge of Python for data or AI workflows
- Experience presenting technical work to customers or supporting pre-sales / GTM motions
