About the Company

Our client is a general contracting company based in North Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area) specializing in self-performed concrete paving and underground utilities for commercial projects. The company operates a lean, remote-first model and focuses on high-volume, fast-moving projects in the private sector, including major retail chains and commercial developments across the rapidly growing DFW metroplex.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Engineering Estimator to join our team as a dedicated, full-time estimator working within our client's existing systems and workflows. The ideal candidate will own the full bid lifecycle — from plan review and quantity takeoff through bid submission and post-award coordination. This is a critical role where accuracy directly impacts profitability and the company's ability to pursue and win more work in a competitive, fast-paced market.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architect-provided plans using Bluebeam — including area measurements, linear items, material counts, and site elements specific to concrete paving and underground utilities.

  • Review project specifications, plan schedules, and site conditions thoroughly to identify missing information and flag questions before bid submission.

  • Manage the full bid solicitation and submission process — from coordinating supplier and subcontractor pricing to preparing and submitting complete, accurate bids.

  • Track active bid invitations via PlanHub and manage the estimating pipeline with efficiency and accuracy.

  • Support post-award workflows including subcontractor buyouts, submittal packages, and ongoing coordination with subs and suppliers on scope, scheduling, and logistics.

  • Utilize Builder Trend for project scheduling coordination and integration with field operations.

  • Maintain organized estimating templates and cost databases to ensure consistency and speed across bids.

  • Communicate directly with the company owner and field team to clarify scope, confirm assumptions, and validate estimates.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of estimating experience in concrete paving, site work, underground utilities, or closely related civil trades, with demonstrated experience on commercial projects ($250K-$1M+), ideally for U.S. clients.

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam for digital takeoff and plan markup; experience with other takeoff software is transferable.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and site conditions with a high degree of accuracy.

  • End-to-end bid process experience — from takeoff and supplier pricing coordination through formal submission, plus familiarity with post-award workflows (buyouts, submittals, scope coordination).

  • Experience with PlanHub or similar subscription-based project lead platforms is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Builder Trend or comparable project management software is preferred.

  • Fluent English communication skills (written and verbal); Spanish language skills are a bonus.

  • Prior experience working remotely for a U.S.-based contractor is strongly preferred.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and continuous process improvement.
