Logistics & Shipping Supervisor – Structural Steel Operations

Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Schedule: First Shift (occasional oversight of Second Shift operations)
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: Starting at $26.00 per hour, with higher compensation available based on experience

Position Summary

A growing manufacturing operation is seeking a Logistics & Shipping Supervisor to coordinate and lead outbound material handling and shipping activities within a structural steel fabrication environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring customer deliveries are prepared accurately, loaded safely, and dispatched on schedule.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, hands-on equipment experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Direct daily shipping and loadout operations for structural steel products and materials.
  • Verify outgoing loads for accuracy, proper identification, and shipment readiness.
  • Ensure materials are loaded, secured, and prepared according to transportation and safety requirements.
  • Partner with production, logistics, and operations teams to support on-time deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records, load documentation, and inventory movement data.
  • Utilize production and shipping software to track materials and shipment status.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to shipping personnel and new hires.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and promote compliance with company safety practices.
  • Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Serve as a hands-on leader, assisting with operations as needed in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel shipping, material handling, or related manufacturing operations.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading, supervising, or coordinating teams.
  • Proven experience operating industrial equipment, including:
    • Overhead cranes
    • Forklifts
    • Telehandlers
    • Vertical mast lifts
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet delivery deadlines.
    • Effective communication and team leadership abilities.
    • Strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
