We specialise in high-voltage transmission systems including HV cable routes, overhead lines (OHL), and substations, combining strong commercial governance with engineering and delivery excellence. We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (Post-Contract) to take a leading role in the commercial management and control of energy infrastructure projects.

Role Overview

This is a client-side commercial delivery role, focused on ensuring robust cost control, effective contract administration, and proactive risk management across the construction phase.

 

You will operate at the heart of project delivery teams, working closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure commercial outcomes are optimised and aligned with programme objectives.

 

The role is particularly suited to candidates with regulated utility experience, and strong working knowledge of NEC4 contracts in a live project environment.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Delivery & Governance

  • Lead the post-contract commercial management of major infrastructure projects
  • Ensure compliance with client governance, approvals, and reporting frameworks
  • Maintain full visibility of project cost, risk, and financial performance

Contract Management (NEC4)

  • Administer NEC4 ECC and PSC contracts in a live delivery environment
  • Lead or support:
    • Early Warning processes
    • Compensation Event assessments and negotiations
    • Programme and impact reviews
  • Ensure contract mechanisms are applied robustly and consistently

Cost Control & Forecasting

  • Own and maintain accurate cost forecasts and cash flow projections
  • Monitor actual vs forecast performance and identify variances early
  • Support project teams in maintaining robust financial discipline

 

Change & Risk Management

  • Lead commercial input into change control processes
  • Assess and challenge contractor submissions for:
    • Compensation Events
    • Variations
    • Claims
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities

Supplier & Contractor Management

  • Review and assess:
    • Interim applications/payments
    • Final accounts
    • Contractor performance
  • Build collaborative relationships while maintaining commercial rigour

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide clear, accurate and timely commercial reporting
  • Present key commercial positions to internal stakeholders and clients
  • Support senior decision-making with data-driven insight

Procurement & Packages (Live Works)

  • Support procurement and tender evaluation of additional works/packages

Contribute to commercial strategy for ongoing delivery phases
