We Are CheckAlt
While the world grows more digital and connected, physical frictions in payments aren’t going anywhere. Since 2004, our expertise in paper check processing has enabled banks, credit unions, and fintechs to offer the same digital, user-friendly experiences to all their customers - regardless of their method of payment. With software and APIs, CheckAlt optimizes processing for financial institutions and businesses nationwide.
The Role
Are you the leader who keeps operations running like a well-oiled machine? CheckAlt is looking for an Operations Manager to own the heartbeat of our day-to-day processing operations — ensuring accuracy, speed, and quality across high-volume payment and lockbox workflows. This is a hands-on leadership role that bridges frontline execution and strategic oversight, building accountable teams and durable processes that meet client expectations and regulatory standards as we grow.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Daily Operations
- Own daily data entry and processing operations to ensure volumes are handled accurately, on time, and in accordance with procedures and controls
- Oversee workload distribution, capacity planning, and prioritization through direct leadership of Team Leads
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and service levels; proactively identify risks, delays, or bottlenecks and take corrective action
- Serve as the primary escalation point for processing issues, quality concerns, or operational disruptions
Develop and Manage Team Leads
- Directly manage, coach, and develop Team Leads, setting clear performance expectations and accountability standards
- Support Team Leads in providing day-to-day guidance, training, and feedback to processors
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and development planning for Team Leads and key contributors
Own Quality, Risk & Controls
- Ensure compliance with documented procedures, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and data security standards across operations
- Oversee quality review processes, error tracking, and trend analysis to reduce rework and operational risk
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams to address findings, implement corrective actions, and sustain control effectiveness
Drive Performance & Reporting
- Review and analyze operational metrics — including volume, turnaround time, accuracy, and error rates — to drive continuous performance improvement
- Ensure Team Leads consistently track, report, and act on key performance indicators
- Communicate operational results, risks, and improvement initiatives clearly to senior management
Improve Processes & Partner Cross-Functionally
- Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, quality, and scalability
- Lead or support system enhancements, workflow changes, and procedural updates in partnership with Operations, Technology, and Support teams
- Champion standardization, documentation, and best practices across all teams
Talents you’ll bring:
-
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or relevant coursework preferred
- 8+ years of experience in lockbox, payment processing, or operational services environments
- Demonstrated experience leading people leaders or teams in a high-volume, deadline-driven operation
- Strong understanding of payment processing, check handling, remittances, and operational controls
- Proficiency with payment systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
Characteristics you’ll have:
-
- Results-oriented with the self-motivation and drive to enable client success and continuous improvement
- Ability to wear multiple hats and pivot strategies and execution in a timely manner
- Resourceful and collaborative with a bias towards action
- A personal and business value of treating others with honesty and respect
