Who We're Looking For

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and maneuverability in orbit. Our high-delta-V spacecraft platforms support national security, civil, and commercial missions where propulsion capability and rapid execution matter.

We are hiring a Senior Accountant to serve as a financial backbone across the company's growing operations, from project setup through audit close. You will own month-end close, project accounting, and government contract compliance in a fast-paced aerospace and defense environment where financial accuracy directly supports flight programs.

We are looking for someone detail-driven, systems-minded, deeply fluent in Deltek Costpoint, and comfortable operating at the intersection of GAAP, FAR, and DCAA requirements.

Where You'll Make an Impact

  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement support
  • Drive project accounting across labor distribution, indirect rate monitoring, revenue recognition, and contract setup in Deltek Costpoint
  • Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accuracy of financial data across the business
  • Review employee timesheets and labor charging for compliance with company policy and government contracting requirements
  • Lead account reconciliations and variance analysis tied to project and operational performance
  • Support accounts payable, billing, cash management, and payroll accounting functions
  • Serve as a key contributor on annual financial statement audits and DCAA and compliance reviews
  • Partner with program managers and operations leadership on financial reporting and project performance analysis
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and Costpoint system optimization
  • Help develop and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

What It Takes

  • B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4 to 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in government contracting, aerospace, or defense
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and government contracting regulations including FAR and CAS
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Unanet, Power BI, or comparable ERP and reporting platforms a plus
  • Familiarity with timekeeping and compliance systems used in government contracting
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operational and program teams

Strongly Preferred Experience

  • CPA or active CPA candidate
  • Experience supporting DCAA audits, indirect rate submissions, and government contract compliance
  • Prior experience in a high-growth or startup environment
  • Familiarity with project-based accounting and contract lifecycle management

Why Quantum Space

  • Build the financial foundation behind spacecraft that actually fly, rapidly and repeatedly
  • Own real authority across close, compliance, and project accounting, not just task execution
  • Work with a team pushing the frontier of high-mobility space logistics
  • Competitive compensation, equity, and top-tier benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing

Location: Rockville, MD

Base Salary:  $110,000 to $130,000 depending on experience
