The Role

The Aerospace Policy Adviser plays a key role in representing and supporting the UK’s aerospace sector. Managing critical policy issues and industry input into the UK Government and other stakeholders, this role will work across a range of policy areas including decarbonisation and environmental policy, aviation safety regulation, supply chain resilience and wider aerospace competitiveness issues, with the aim of establishing and promoting ADS’s aerospace policy priorities, supported by a strong evidential base.

The Aerospace Policy Adviser leads our policy engagement with officials in the Department for Business and Trade, the Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority. Working across ADS teams, they will provide data, analysis and advice to member companies on the industrial contribution of the UK aerospace sector and support the development of evidence-based positions on the issues affecting industry growth, competitiveness and regulation.

The ideal candidate will be confident operating in complex stakeholder environments, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with senior members, government representatives and industry partners, demonstrating diplomacy, sound judgement and responsiveness.

They will be highly organised with strong administrative and technical capability, including advanced IT skills, and able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.

A proactive and solutions-focused approach is essential, alongside the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, remaining calm under pressure and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will bring confidence and credibility when engaging at senior levels, a good understanding of the UK political landscape, and ideally experience within a membership or representative organisation.
