Business Development Representative

Monk is an AI-native accounts receivable platform for B2B companies. We automate billing, collections, and payments so finance teams can turn outstanding invoices into cash, faster.

We believe the AR stack is broken and the finance function deserves much better. We are bringing AI, speed, and real craftsmanship to a space that has been ignored for too long.

We are looking for a BDR who can open doors. Not someone who sends templated sequences and prays. We need someone who studies accounts, smashes the phones, writes sharp outreach, and books meetings that actually convert. We do not care about your education, age, or past titles. All that matters is your hunger and whether you can book quality meetings.

What you will do

  • Own top-of-funnel pipeline generation for B2B companies (startups and mid-market)

  • Research accounts, identify the right buyers, and craft outreach that earns replies

  • Run multi-channel prospecting across cold email, LinkedIn, phone, and creative tactics that nobody else is trying

  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads and hand off meetings that are genuinely ready for a demo

  • Work directly with the founders and AEs on messaging, ICP definition, and outbound strategy

  • Be the first touch a prospect has with Monk. You set the tone for every deal that follows

  • Leverage AI at every step: account research, personalization, sequencing, and pipeline tracking

  • Build the outbound playbook from scratch. There is no existing motion for you to inherit

Who you are

  • 0-2 years in a BDR, SDR, or outbound sales role at a VC-backed startup

  • You have hit or exceeded quota before and can point to specific numbers

  • You have booked meetings through cold outreach, not just warm inbound

  • Creative prospector. You find angles that get past the noise and you are not afraid to pick up the phone

  • Owner. You do not wait to be told which accounts to work. You build your own lists and run your own plays

  • You thrive in chaos. You have worked in environments where nothing was handed to you and you figured it out anyway

  • Strong writer. Your emails are tight, specific, and sound like a human wrote them

  • AI-native. You default to using AI to research faster, write better outreach, and manage your pipeline more efficiently

  • Excited to build in person in Flatiron, NYC

What we do not need

  • Domain expertise in finance or AR. Any B2B SaaS background works. We will teach you the space

  • Logo pedigree. Schools and marquee company names are not what we select for

Why join

  • Competitive base plus meaningful equity and full health/dental

  • A real path to AE. If you can book meetings, you will get the chance to close them

  • Freedom and trust. You will own your outbound motion and have real input on how we go to market

  • We are all in. Expect motivated teammates who ship fast and hold a high bar

  • Experienced founders with real traction and happy customers

  • You will not be buried in a sales org. You will be helping build it

  • Build in person in Flatiron, NYC. It is more fun

We hire for intensity, craft, and attitude. Everything else can be learned.
