Maine Technical Source (MTS) is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team in Yarmouth, ME.     

MTS serves the Northeast from offices in Maine, Massachusetts, and New York. As a privately owned company with a team of approximately 20 employees, MTS specializes in engineering and measurement equipment—providing tools, software, training, and repair and calibration services to surveyors, engineers, contractors, and architects. Their approach blends advanced solutions with dependable, customer-focused support.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of all accounting functions. This includes month-end close, journal entries and general ledger maintenance, and fixed asset analysis. As the sole accounting staff person, many of these duties will be performed by the Controller with support for AP/AR from other team members.
  • Processing payroll via Paychex and monitoring for accuracy and compliance.
  • Working closely with the President to manage the financial aspect of vendor relationships. This includes inventory management and optimization and ensuring timely payment while managing company cash position.
  • Manages banking and other vendor relationships (e.g. payroll, insurance) to ensure excellent service and rate structures.
  • Coordinate with external tax accountant to ensure timely and accurate tax and compliance filings and to coordinate the year-end financial review and reporting.
  • Works closely with the President to prepares annual operating and capital budgets and monitor and adjust as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a business-related field preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or business environment.  Multi-state sales/service business model preferred.
  • Experience performing all aspects of the accounting function (AP, AR, Payroll, GL) and performing month-end close and reporting as well as year-end close and reporting in a small to mid-size business preferred.
  • Knowledge of multi-state sales tax requirements and compliance helpful.
  • Strong computer aptitude including experience with accounting software (MTS uses Epicor Eclipse), and Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to commute to work primarily from the Yarmouth office Monday through Friday.
