At LangChain, our mission is to make intelligent agents ubiquitous. We build the foundation for agent engineering in the real world, helping developers move from prototypes to production-ready AI agents that teams can rely on. We began as widely adopted open-source tools and have grown to also offer a platform for building, evaluating, deploying, and operating agents at scale.
With $125M raised at Series B from IVP, Sequoia, Benchmark, CapitalG, and Sapphire Ventures, we’re at a stage where we’re continuing to develop new products, growth is accelerating, and all team members have meaningful impact on what we build and how we work together. LangChain is a place where your contributions can shape how this technology shows up in the real world.
Today, our platform includes LangSmith (Observability, Evaluation, Deployment, Fleet, and Sandboxes), our open source frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, and Deep Agents), and the newly launched LangSmith Engine for autonomous agent improvement. We have 100M+ monthly open source downloads, 6,000+ active LangSmith customers, and 5 of the Fortune 10 use LangSmith in production (+ 35% of the Fortune 500 overall), including teams at Klarna, Clay, Coinbase, Workday, Lyft, Cloudflare, Harvey, Rippling, Vanta, LinkedIn, Monday.com, Nvidia, and Bridgewater.
About the Role:
As the Financial Controller, you'll lead our accounting and financial reporting functions end-to-end. You'll be the person who makes sure our books are clean, our close process runs on time, and our leadership team has the numbers they need to make good decisions. This role reports to the Head of Finance and works closely with our Finance, Legal, People and Operations teams.
This is an in-office role based in our San Francisco or New York office.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process — on time and with accuracy
Lead our first audit and manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and equity administration
Build and maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Drive improvements to our financial systems and processes as we scale
What You’ll Bring:
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller role
CPA required
Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
Experience in high-growth SaaS or technology companies — you understand what "scaling" actually means for a finance function
Strong working knowledge of accounting systems
Track record of building or improving close processes and internal controls
Comfortable working across functions and communicating financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
Bonus: experience supporting a Series B–D company through an audit or preparing for one
You’ve worked in fast-moving teams where scope and priorities evolve
You have start-up DNA: You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments etc.
You exemplify our operating principles.
You are motivated to build something great: you hold a high bar for quality, craft, and impact
You embrace hot takes: you share informed opinions, challenge the status quo, and engage in constructive debate
You operate with maximum agency: you take ownership, move work forward independently, and help others unblock
You run to the roar: you lean into hard problems, ambiguity, and fast-moving challenges
