The Opportunity: Founding Product Manager, NIRA

NIRA is an established and growing fintech lender in India, and product is central to where we’re headed next. We are compounding fast: funnel improvements are landing, we are building toward our own NBFC, and our next credit product is moving from strategy into build. This is the first PM hire in NIRA’s current team.

India's financial infrastructure spanning Account Aggregator, Credit Line on UPI, the Unified Lending Interface is advancing faster than anywhere in the world. UPI registers nearly a billion transactions a day. You’ll be building a product on top of infrastructure that doesn’t exist at this scale anywhere else, and the window to shape how it’s used in lending is right now.

As part of a small, high-ownership team on the ground in Bangalore, you will be part of an international product and leadership network with direct accountability for outcomes that matter.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Drive strategy through deep user insight: Know the borrower better than anyone else by combining continuous, hands-on qualitative research with hard data. You will translate these ground-truth learnings directly into foundational product direction and nuanced UX decisions.

  • Own the lending funnel end-to-end: Own the lending funnel as a product system. Develop a point of view on where the highest-leverage interventions sit (UX, policy, pricing, segmentation), prioritize ruthlessly, and be accountable for moving conversion, approval, and disbursal — including the willingness to kill work that isn't moving the needle

  • Build Short Term Credit from the ground up: Own the 0-to-1 product strategy by defining the core hypothesis, segmenting the target user base, and identifying the critical early use cases to win. From this strategic foundation, architect the end-to-end borrower experience. Lead the continuous refinement of UX in lockstep with credit policy for this fast-moving, high-frequency product.

  • Own strategy and roadmap: Own product strategy and roadmap, translating business goals and customer needs into clear priorities, initiatives, and measurable outcomes.Regularly produce work that moves company-level OKRs. Defend prioritisation decisions with data.

  • Work with AI tools the way great practitioners do: We use Claude and other AI tools actively in our day-to-day. You’ll use them to compress the time from hypothesis to validated signal — specs, analysis, prototyping, discovery. You see AI as a force multiplier on personal output, not a novelty.

  • Quantitative by default: Data is not a backup for intuition - it’s the starting point. You run your own queries, build your own models, and produce consistently error-free analysis. You change your position in response to data without needing a second opinion to give you permission.

  • Resource-constraint native: You cut scope to preserve core intent - optimising for low bandwidth, not more headcount.

  • Systems thinker: You reason in stocks and flows; you build explicit models, name their assumptions, and identify which assumption is most likely to break.

  • Strong communicator across functions and borders: You translate product thinking for credit, compliance, and engineering stakeholders with equal fluency. You know when to share context, when to ask for input, and how to make a compelling case to a reluctant partner.

  • Fintech or non-bank lending background strongly preferred over traditional banking.
