Trusted by some of the world’s leading technology companies, we deliver highly scalable, mission-critical solutions that power both consumer and business applications globally. Since our founding in 2017, we have been at the forefront of designing cutting-edge networking, telecommunications, and consumer products, while driving end-to-end project execution and creating transformative technology applications.
Overview
Join our team as an Audio Capture Experience Engineer where you will play a pivotal role in advancing our product variants developed from reference designs. You will focus on evaluating mic array designs using simulations, verifying capture performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), and executing detailed DSP tuning. This role operates within our established architectures, emphasizing characterization, evaluation, and testing within our proprietary toolchains and reference designs.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate microphone placement options in simulation using COMSOL and proprietary audio tools based on reference design constraints.
- Collect acoustic transfer function data for Far Field, Near Field, and Echo Path settings using accredited ATF measurement systems and processes.
- Gather wind noise, clean speech, and speech-in-noise datasets as per company data collection matrices in qualified laboratories.
- Execute verification and validation protocols on prototypes, ensuring compliance with acceptance criteria and identifying deviations.
- Manually tune EQ, Multi-Mic Noise Reduction, Wind Noise Reduction, and Dynamic Range Compression parameters.
- Assess acoustic impacts resulting from ID-driven mechanical changes, such as port placement, mesh selection, and gasket sealing.
- Produce standardized performance characterization reports according to company templates and prepare golden datasets and tuning configurations for the manufacturing handoff.
- Uphold data versioning discipline across interface design variants.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience with acoustic measurement systems like HATS, anechoic chambers, and microphone calibration.
- 3+ years of experience with MATLAB and/or Python for acoustic data processing and analysis.
- Profound understanding of microphone array theory, transfer functions, room acoustics, and sound field concepts.
- Knowledge of MEMS microphone specifications, including sensitivity, SNR, frequency response, and matching tolerances.
- Proficiency in signal processing fundamentals, such as FFT, filtering, impulse response analysis, and dB/SPL concepts.
- Familiarity with DSP fundamentals including biquad filters and frequency domain analysis.
- Strong lab discipline, with strict adherence to standard operating procedures, measurement repeatability, and comprehensive documentation.
- Demonstrated communication skills for reporting technical results to engineering stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with AI tools and agentic workflows.
- Experience with COMSOL Multiphysics acoustic simulations.
- Knowledge of beamforming, spatial audio capture, and array signal processing.
- Experience with DSP tuning, specifically EQ, noise reduction, wind noise reduction, and dynamic range compression.
- Familiarity with HDF5/H5 data formats and version-controlled dataset management.
- Experience in consumer electronics new product introduction cycles, with an emphasis on wearables or hearables.
- Understanding of acoustic-mechanical interfaces, concerning port design, mesh impedance, and gasket sealing.
