Electrical Maintenance Shift Supervisor

Salary: £48,987.12 per annum (£22.43 per hour, plus 2% shift allowance)
Hours of work: 4 x 12 hour day shifts, followed by 4 days off (7am – 7pm)

A quick look at the role

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Shift Supervisor to lead and support the engineering function at our Redcar facility. This is a hands on supervisory role, responsible for ensuring plant reliability, maximising operational uptime, and driving engineering standards across the site.

The successful candidate will oversee day to day maintenance activities, coordinate planned and reactive engineering tasks, and provide leadership to the engineering team to ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You will play a key role in promoting a proactive engineering culture, improving site performance, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Your core responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate engineering and maintenance activities across the site.
  • Drive plant availability through effective planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance management.
  • Support and lead the engineering team during breakdowns, ensuring faults are diagnosed and resolved efficiently.
  • Ensure engineering tasks are completed safely and in line with company procedures and compliance standards.
  • Identify recurring faults and implement long term engineering solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor engineering performance and support the development of best practice across the site.
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers regarding specialist repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Support engineering planning, permit systems and maintenance scheduling.
  • Promote high standards of housekeeping, health & safety and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to engineers and site operatives where required.

Here’s what we require

  • NVQ Level 3 Engineering qualification, electrical bias preferred.
  • Previous experience within a supervisory or lead engineering role in an industrial or production environment.
  • Strong background in maintaining production machinery and equipment.
  • Experience fault finding on PLCs, VSDs and relay logic circuits.
  • Good understanding of planned preventative maintenance systems.
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem solving.
