About Fluidstack

We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!

About the Role

We're looking for a seasoned Fire Life Safety Commissioning Lead to take technical ownership of FLS commissioning across mission-critical facilities and large-scale commercial projects. You'll be the go-to authority on the jobsite — coordinating with contractors, vendors, design teams, and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) officials to ensure every life safety system performs exactly as specified, fully code-compliant, and ready for occupancy.

This is a field-forward leadership role. You'll build the plans, run the tests, direct the teams, and own the documentation that protects lives and closes projects. If you thrive in complex, high-stakes environments and bring deep technical credibility alongside strong communication skills, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Perform On-site FLS Commissioning Activities and Project Support

  • Perform and document functional performance testing of fire alarm systems, smoke control systems, emergency power interface, and suppression systems

  • Participate in pre-functional inspections and integrated systems testing

  • Lead or support AHJ inspections and interface with code officials

  • Direct subcontractors and vendors in execution of testing sequences

  • Troubleshoot and validate operation of life safety systems and interfaces

  • Monitor and support project timelines and deliverables

Develop Testing Plans and Life Safety Protocols

  • Develop and maintain fire life safety commissioning scripts and plans

  • Create and execute pre-functional checklists for fire protection, detection, and alarm systems

  • Review contractor submittals and matrixes for integrated testing

  • Ensure conformance with NFPA codes, local regulations, and commissioning best practices

Review Design and Construction Documentation

  • Provide feedback during commissioning-focused design reviews

  • Review drawings, specifications, sequence of operations, and submittals for code compliance and functional intent

  • Participate in interdisciplinary coordination of FLS scope

Reporting and Stakeholder Communication

  • Assist in compiling commissioning documentation for internal and client use

  • Support the development of final commissioning reports

  • Participate in commissioning meetings and client updates

  • Document punch items and follow up on resolution

Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Typically a degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, or related field.

  • Experience: 10+ Proven track record in fire/life safety commissioning, preferably in data centers, commercial buildings, or high-performance facilities.

  • Certifications: Preferred nationally recognized commissioning certifications (e.g., CxP, BCxP, CxA, CCP, QCxP).

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of NFPA, IBC, and other applicable codes; experience with integrated testing of fire alarm, suppression, smoke control, and emergency communication systems.

  • Soft Skills: Ability to work under limited supervision, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Benefits
  • Competitive total compensation package (cash + equity).

  • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms.

The base salary range for this position is $220,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range represents our good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. Total compensation may also include equity in the form of stock options.

We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
