Biffa is on the lookout for a Workshop Manager
A quick look at the role.
Managing the maintenance and repair of a fleet of waste collection vehicles and equipment consisting of various makes, models and types, ranging from car derived vans to 44t Artic Units and trailers.
Your core responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day workshop operation to ensure maximum fleet availability
- Plan and schedule vehicle inspections, servicing and repairs in line with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements
- Drive high standards of health & safety, housekeeping and workshop compliance across all areas
- Support and manage workshop employees, including performance, attendance and development
- Ensure accurate completion and control of all service, maintenance and repair documentation
- Oversee fault diagnosis and repair work across hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
- Build strong working relationships with operational depot teams to maintain service performance
- Deliver excellent workshop performance, productivity and downtime control across the fleet
Our essential requirements
- Minimum Level 3 HGV NVQ or equivalent, with strong technical knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair
- Minimum 5 years workshop experience and at least 3 years in a supervisory or management position
- HGV Licence essential, with TMCPC qualification preferred
- Proven experience maintaining vehicles and waste handling equipment to current legislative and DVSA standards
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and vehicle electrical systems, including fault finding and diagnostics
- Experience managing maintenance records, compliance documentation and workshop health & safety standards
