Onit’s AI Labs are building custom AI models to automate tasks in legal operations, contracts, and spend management. We’re looking for an ambitious and experienced lawyer with an interest in AI who can be a subject matter expert that ensures the quality of our models.  

Responsibilities

  • Translate legal domain knowledge into actionable model requirements 

  • Identify inefficiencies and pain points across legal processes, assessing opportunities for automation and AI-driven improvement 

  • Contribute to evaluation design, defining quality benchmarks for legal AI and building the frameworks to measure them 

  • Design and test internal tooling to accelerate model development workflows 

  • Mentor junior legal ai researchers on legal concepts and best practices 

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of legal practice with a focus on contract review and negotiation, including strong familiarity with the full contract lifecycle and its stakeholders 

  • Exceptional communication skills across diverse audiences, with the ability to distil complex legal concepts for non-legal stakeholders 

  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of AI technologies 

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity 

  • In-house experience at an enterprise organisation (preferred) 

  • Experience managing legal spend and billing (preferred) 

  • Experience collaborating with software engineers or technical teams (preferred)
