Objective:
The Senior Accountant in Traditional Tax is responsible for managing complex tax engagements for high-wealth business owners across a variety of industries. This role oversees the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensures compliance with regulations, and provides strategic tax planning support. This position participates directly in client meetings to present and deliver completed returns. This role strengthens client relationships, ensures high-quality deliverables, and contributes to the overall success of the Traditional Tax department.
Essential Functions:
1. Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns.
2. Manage tax engagements from planning through completion, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
3. Supervise, mentor, and review the work of Staff Accountants and Interns.
4. Develop and implement tax planning strategies for high-wealth business owners and their entities.
5. Conduct tax research and provide technical guidance to clients and team members.
6. Regularly communicate with clients to gather information, review tax strategies, and deliver final returns.
7. Assist Managers and Partners in presenting tax solutions and advising clients on financial matters.
8. Ensure all tax filings are completed accurately and submitted by required deadlines.
9. Identify opportunities for process improvements within the Traditional Tax department.
10. Collaborate with audit and accounting services teams to provide integrated client support.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position may supervise Staff Accountants and Interns within the Traditional Tax department. He or She will report to Traditional Tax Managers or a Partner of the firm.
Position Expectations & Work Environment
This is a full-time salaried exempt position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works normal office hours (with guilt-free flexibility). Some weeks over 40 hours will be required.
Location & Travel
Based in Springfield, MO, or Fayetteville, AR.
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree and CPA certification preferred. Minimum of five years of public accounting tax experience, with at least one year in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of tax law and compliance standards required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; experience with UltraTax, QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, and AdvanceFlow preferred. Must pass a CJIS background check.
