About the Role

As an Admiral Nurse, you will provide highly specialised dementia nursing expertise to families affected by dementia, with a particular focus on supporting family carers. This is a senior, autonomous clinical role where you will work therapeutically with families, influence best practice across Belong, and contribute to the ongoing development of our Admiral Nursing service.

You will be professionally supported through Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurse framework, clinical supervision, and practice development, while remaining embedded within Belong’s villages and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist nursing assessments and evidence‑based interventions to families affected by dementia, including during periods of transition and bereavement
  • Provide emotional, psychological, and practical support to family carers and, where appropriate, people living with dementia
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and carer breakdown
  • Act as an advocate for carers and families, supporting access to services and coordinated care
  • Liaise closely with GPs, health and social care professionals, and voluntary agencies
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to case conferences and multidisciplinary working

Professional & Service Development

  • Promote best practice in dementia care in line with NICE guidance, national dementia strategies, and Admiral Nurse Service Standards
  • Offer consultancy, advice, and guidance to colleagues and partner organisations
  • Contribute to audit, evaluation, and development of the Admiral Nursing service
  • Use the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework and participate fully in clinical supervision and practice development

Education & Leadership

  • Deliver and contribute to dementia education, training, and awareness activities
  • Act as a role model for high‑quality dementia care and support learning within Belong
  • Support mentoring, supervision, and practice development for other professionals where appropriate
