Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer Planner will collaborate with colleagues throughout the company to achieve Best-in-Class performance for CEL and our customers. This position will be accountable for ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient delivery of all materials to support our customer projects.

The ideal candidate should possess robust analytical, planning, and communication skills, along with a comprehensive understanding of material supply management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Demand & Supply Planning

·        Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts in collaboration with sales, engineering, and project teams

·        Translate demand into feasible supply and production plans

·        Balance capacity, material availability, and customer delivery requirements

MRP & System Planning (SAP BYD)

·        Own and manage MRP runs within SAP Business By Design

·        Ensure accuracy of master data (BOMs, lead times, safety stock, reorder points)

·        Analyse MRP outputs and take proactive actions on shortages, excess, and rescheduling

·        Drive continuous improvement in planning parameters and system utilisation

Production Planning & Scheduling

·        Create and maintain detailed production schedules aligned to factory capacity

·        Coordinate with production, procurement, and engineering to resolve constraints

·        Monitor adherence to schedule and drive recovery plans where required

Inventory & Materials Management

·        Optimise inventory levels while ensuring high service levels

·        Manage slow-moving and excess stock through structured mitigation plans

·        Support ABC classification and inventory segmentation strategies

Data Analysis & Reporting (Excel / Power BI)

·        Develop and maintain advanced planning tools and dashboards

·        Use Excel (advanced formulas, Power Query, macros) for data modelling and scenario planning

·        Build Power BI dashboards to track KPIs such as OTIF, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, and schedule adherence

·        Provide actionable insights to support decision-making at operational and leadership levels

Cross-Functional Collaboration

·        Work closely with procurement, engineering, production, and logistics teams

·        Support project planning for large switchgear orders and engineered-to-order products

·        Act as a key interface between commercial and operational teams

Continuous Improvement

·        Identify and implement process improvements in planning and scheduling

·        Support digital transformation initiatives within supply chain (automation, reporting, system enhancements)

·        Standardise planning processes and reporting frameworks
