Cosine at a glance
- Cosine is an autonomous, on-premise coding agent post-trained on human reasoning data to deliver unmatched software-engineering accuracy, security, and speed for regulated enterprises
- What makes us unique is our in-house ML research lab that post-trains LLMs (e.g. Nova, gpt-oss, Kimi) on proprietary software-engineering reasoning data to dramatically increase their coding accuracy. In 2024 this gave us a state-of-the-art score of 72% on OpenAI’s SWE-Lancer benchmark
- Cosine is now the only available managed product that can be fully air-gapped and deployed on premises, exciting many bulge bracket but extremely risk sensitive and strict enterprises that have rejected all other solutions on the market. We've got our first pilots up and running with global investment banks and defence primes and are now looking to scale our GTM function
The role
Enterprise adoption of autonomous coding agents depends on technical credibility, clarity, and trust.
We are hiring a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer to help drive revenue and customer adoption by acting as a deeply technical partner to prospective and existing customers. This role sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, and customer onboarding, with a strong emphasis on real-world enterprise constraints.
You will work directly with enterprise developers, architects, security teams, and buyers to:
- Clearly communicate Cosine’s value from a developer perspective
- Define what Cosine can and cannot support in concrete, testable terms
- Help customers evaluate Cosine safely and rigorously
- Ensure early customers are successful and confident using the product
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role with significant ownership and scope to grow into a broader function as Cosine scales.
What you’ll do
1. Support enterprise sales cycles and pilots (core responsibility)
- Partner with sales to support technical discovery, demos, and evaluations
- Engage directly with enterprise engineering teams to understand their workflows, constraints, and pain points
- Help agree which engineering tasks or challenges Cosine will support during pilots
- Define clear, tangible success metrics and evaluation criteria with customers
- Act as the technical owner of pilot execution alongside product and engineering
2. Communicate Cosine’s value from a developer perspective
- Clearly explain how Cosine works as an autonomous coding agent, particularly in on-premise and regulated environments
- Translate Cosine’s capabilities and limitations into concrete developer-facing use cases
- Answer technical questions around architecture, deployment, security, and operational constraints
- Build trust by being honest and precise about where Cosine excels and where it is still evolving
3. Own technical onboarding and enablement
- Lead onboarding sessions and hands-on workshops to get developers up to speed with Cosine
- Help customers integrate Cosine into their existing development environments and workflows
- Help customers define and deliver against their engineering objectives during a Cosine pilot
- Address technical concerns during onboarding, particularly around security, access, and control
- Act as a trusted technical point of contact during early usage
- Contribute directly in the code when progress or clarity depends on it
4. Gather and feed back customer insights
- Engage regularly with customers to understand what is working and what is not
- Capture structured feedback from pilots and early deployments
- Share field feedback that helps Research and Product understand where the models & product succeed and where they can improve - feeding into roadmap and prioritisation
- Identify repeated objections, friction points, and opportunities for improvement
5. Help shape the forward deployed function
- Contribute to playbooks for pilots, onboarding, and technical evaluations
- Help define how Cosine scales technical support for enterprise customers
- Over time, help build and mentor a broader forward deployed or sales engineering team
How success will be measured
- Enterprise customers can clearly articulate Cosine’s value from a developer perspective
- Sales cycles progress more quickly due to strong technical alignment and trust
- Pilots have clear scopes, success criteria, and measurable outcomes
- Customers report confidence in onboarding and early usage of Cosine
- Product and engineering teams receive high-quality, actionable feedback from the field
You’ll thrive here if you
- Bring 5+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience, ideally in an enterprise environment, that includes customer-facing work
- Are comfortable engaging directly with developers, architects, and technical stakeholders
- Can explain complex technical systems clearly and pragmatically
- Enjoy working close to customers and solving ambiguous, real-world problems
- Are excited by early-stage roles where responsibilities are broad and evolving
- Care about credibility, accuracy, and earning trust with sceptical engineering teams
- Are motivated by revenue impact and helping close meaningful enterprise deals
Experience with regulated environments, on-prem deployments, or Kubernetes is a plus but not required.
