Position Summary As a Mechanical Insulator in the oil and gas sector, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation and safety of industrial systems. Your primary responsibility will be to install, maintain, and repair insulation materials on pipes, tanks, and equipment to prevent heat loss, reduce energy consumption, and protect personnel from hazardous temperatures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials on various industrial components, including pipes, vessels, and machinery, adhering to industry standards and specifications.
Inspect existing insulation systems for wear and tear and perform necessary repairs or replacements to maintain optimal insulation performance.
Follow all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Choose the right insulation materials based on temperature, environment, and application requirements, including fiberglass, foam, and mineral wool.
Maintain accurate records of insulation work completed, materials used, and any safety incidents.
Work closely with engineers, construction teams, and other trades to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Understanding of insulation materials, installation techniques, and applicable safety regulations
Meticulous approach to identifying issues and developing effective solutions
working in challenging environments, including extreme temperatures and at heights
Clear verbal and written skills; collaborates effectively with colleagues and supervisors
Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and ladders
Ability to interpret reports, diagrams, and manuals accurately
Climb ladders, scaffolds, or poles
Bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl
Lift, push, pull, and routinely move at least 50 lbs.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Relevant technical certification or vocational training in mechanical insulation (preferred)
Proven hands-on experience in mechanical insulation, ideally within the oil & gas industry
Any formal technical certification or vocational credential in mechanical insulation or a related field (if held)
