Precision Metal Fabrication Technician (TIG Welding)

Location: Hanover, PA
Shift: First Shift | Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Additional Hours: Occasional Saturdays and overtime as required
Compensation: Starting at $24/hour+ (depending on experience and skill level)

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Precision Metal Fabrication Technician to support the production of custom handrails and fabricated metal assemblies. This role combines fitting, layout, fabrication, and TIG welding responsibilities involving aluminum, stainless steel, and other metal materials.

The ideal candidate is experienced in blueprint interpretation, precision fabrication techniques, and producing high-quality weldments while maintaining productivity and safety standards in a fast-paced shop environment.

Primary Functions

  • Fabricate handrails, frames, and miscellaneous metal components using engineering drawings and shop specifications
  • Measure, mark, cut, and prepare materials for assembly and welding operations
  • Align, position, and secure components using fixtures, clamps, jigs, and measuring devices
  • Verify dimensions and fit-up accuracy before final welding
  • Perform TIG welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and related materials
  • Produce clean, accurate welds that meet structural and appearance requirements
  • Evaluate weld quality and make adjustments as needed to maintain workmanship standards
  • Troubleshoot fabrication and welding challenges during production
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as saws, grinders, notchers, and various hand tools
  • Utilize forklifts, pallet jacks, and lifting equipment to transport materials and finished assemblies when required
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition
  • Follow shop drawings, work instructions, and established fabrication procedures
  • Meet production schedules while maintaining quality expectations
  • Support a safe and organized work environment through proper housekeeping and adherence to safety practices
  • Adapt to changing priorities and production demands as needed

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated TIG welding experience involving aluminum and stainless steel fabrication
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and dimensional specifications
  • Proficiency with tape measures, layout tools, and precision measuring equipment
  • Working knowledge of fabrication mathematics, including fractions, measurements, and basic geometry
  • Ability to independently resolve fit-up, layout, and welding-related issues
  • Experience working with fabrication machinery and metalworking equipment
  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekend hours when production demands require
