Overview

As the Authorised Person (AP) – HV Electrical is responsible for supporting the safe, timely, and efficient installation, energisation, commissioning, and operation of HV/LV electrical systems within mission-critical environments.

You will work closely with Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs), Commissioning Managers, Engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure all electrical activities are completed safely and in line with approved procedures and electrical safety rules.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced electrical professional looking to further develop their HV operational and commissioning career within the data centre and mission-critical sector.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation and operation of Global Commissioning SSOW and permit-to-work systems on site
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of switching schedules under SAP supervision
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules and site safety procedures
  • Support energisation activities and electrical isolations across HV/LV systems
  • Participate in LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures and site electrical safety management
  • Carry out inspections of electrical systems and equipment prior to energisation
  • Attend commissioning and coordination meetings with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Commissioning Managers and SAPs regarding upcoming commissioning activities
  • Assist with fault identification and resolution during commissioning activities
  • Maintain accurate records of switching activities, permits, isolations, and site documentation
  • Contribute to proactive communication and coordination between all project stakeholders
  • Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to at all times

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or relevant electrical qualification – Essential
  • CSCS / ECS / Safe Pass – Essential
  • HV AP training or progression toward AP authorisation – Essential
  • SMSTS or IOSH qualification – Desirable
  • BEng (Hons) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent – Desirable

Essential Specialist Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of HV/LV electrical systems and safe isolation procedures
  • Knowledge of electrical safety rules and permit-to-work systems
  • Understanding of switching operations and commissioning processes
  • Familiarity with LOTO procedures and site safety management
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Competent across Microsoft Office applications

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience within an AP, electrical commissioning, or critical environments role – Essential
  • Experience working on data centres, mission-critical, industrial, or infrastructure projects – Desirable
  • Previous experience supporting HV commissioning and energisation activities – Desirable
