Your future contribution

Our apps are home to our most loyal guests: the people who plan their next stay from their pocket. They already work well, but there's a much better version still to build. We're looking for someone to own that experience end to end, the way a founder owns a company, and turn it into something guests can't imagine traveling without.

You'll be the single product owner for our apps: a hands-on, individual-contributor role with no PMs reporting to you. You get a dedicated engineering team, close partners in Design, Data and Marketing, and a direct line to the Managing Director of HomeToGo Marketplace. The Berlin-based seat comes with a real mandate, so you decide what the apps become and have the backing to make it happen.

You'll set the vision for our apps and decide what we build next, thinking in business outcomes throughout: how we make money, where the growth is, and what a release is worth before you ship it. You look beyond the screen too, across Design and UX, the full guest journey, every channel between dreaming of a stay and arriving at the door.

Most of all, you watch the AI space closely: fast to test what's new, just as quick to drop the hype. You prototype with AI before you write a brief and treat every release as a question the market answers for you.

What you'll tackle first

You'll define the roadmap yourself. Here's where the value sits from day one:

  • Turn first-time bookers into repeat guests. Our biggest opportunity sits in loyalty: Rewards, a reason to open the app between trips, an experience that earns its place on the home screen. Cracking retention after the first booking is job one.
  • Bring AI into the guest experience for real. Think AI-assisted trip planning, conversational search, and personalization that makes the app feel like it knows the traveler. You'll prototype these yourself before a sprint is planned.
  • Build re-engagement that guests actually welcome. Push, lifecycle, notifications: the line between a growth engine and an uninstall. You'll bring people back without burning the relationship.
  • Sharpen the path from search to booking. App conversion is a craft of its own. You'll own the funnel from first tap to confirmed booking.

You won't do all of this in your first quarter, but you'll decide the order, defend the bets with evidence, and own the numbers either way.

How you’ll add value

  • Run the apps like your own business: own the bets, the trade-offs, and the results
  • Decide what we build, what we kill, and what we never start, and defend those calls with evidence
  • Connect the dots across Design, UX and the full guest journey
  • Track AI development and prototype ideas yourself using AI tools (Claude, Cursor, v0, Figma Make) before a single sprint is planned
  • Ship continuously, measure honestly, and let real guest behavior settle the debates
  • Roll up your sleeves with Engineering and Design as a fellow builder

You’ll be successful in this role if you

  • Have led product for a consumer app people actually love, and can show the impact in numbers (retention, conversion, engagement, revenue)
  • Bring several years of product ownership in B2C, ideally in marketplaces, travel, or another high-traffic consumer product
  • Know the craft of mobile: App Store and Play Store realities, push and lifecycle, the difference native makes
  • Think like a founder who owns outcomes and would run this like their own company
  • Understand the business as deeply as the product: revenue, growth, unit economics, the lot
  • Follow AI development obsessively and build with AI tools yourself, adopting what works overnight and walking past the hype just as quickly
  • Move comfortably between strategy and the smallest detail, and make sharp calls with incomplete information
  • Thrive in a hands-on builder seat with no department or PM team to run
  • Get your energy from building the product itself
  • Move before you have certainty
  • See AI as a multiplier of your craft
  • Are fluent in English
