About the Senior Site Reliability Engineer role…

We are seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer who brings technical-lead and architect-level expertise to our data platform infrastructure. This is an individual-contributor (IC) role based in Pune, working in-office with our Data Engineering and Data Science teams.

Day-to-day, you'll contribute to the architecture of the platform — AWS accounts, Kubernetes clusters, Terraform-managed services, and the observability stack that powers the data org. You'll help shape technical direction, partner directly with Data Engineers and Data Scientists as their dedicated infrastructure SME, and bring the depth needed to translate their requirements into scalable, secure, production-grade systems.

As a key member of the Infrastructure Platform team, you will be the on-ground Subject Matter Expert in:

• AWS Cloud infrastructure

• Kubernetes administration

• Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code

What you’ll do…

  • Act as the embedded infrastructure SME for Data Engineering and Data Science — partner on design, unblock the data org's needs, and bring infrastructure judgement into their roadmap.

  • Architect, build, and maintain scalable and reliable production-grade infrastructure using Terraform.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise the infrastructure platform for performance and cost.

  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to understand their data requirements and provide efficient solutions, adhering to security policies.

  • Maintain and audit security of the infrastructure (both network-level and system hardening).

  • Operate within and contribute to security standards and regulatory frameworks such as PCI DSS, GDPR, and ISO 27001, in partnership with the security team.

  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve the infrastructure platform.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all platform components.

  • Act as an escalation point and subject matter expert for BAU support issues related to the infrastructure platform.

  • Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation to support critical production infrastructure.

What you have…

  • Extensive experience in infrastructure platform engineering (SRE, DevOps, Platform), including experience in a Tech Lead, Architect, or equivalent technical-authority role. Track record of owning architecture decisions end-to-end — design, trade-off articulation, standards-setting, and cross-team influence with Engineering and Data teams.

  • Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Go).

  • Strong Linux administration skills and security hardening experience.

  • Demonstrated deep experience with Terraform at scale — modules, remote state strategy, environment patterns, CI/CD integration, and governance (Sentinel / OPA / policy-as-code or equivalent).

  • Demonstrated deep experience with AWS — VPC and networking, IAM, EC2 / EKS / ECS, S3, monitoring and logging — and the associated data services.

  • Demonstrated deep experience in Kubernetes cluster administration — owning cluster lifecycle, upgrades, networking (Ingress, Network Policies, FluentBit), multi-tenancy, and production cluster debugging. Application deployment, release management, or troubleshooting applications running on someone else's cluster does not meet this bar — we are looking for someone who owns the cluster itself.

  • Day-to-day fluency with AI coding assistants, particularly Claude Code (Cursor and GitHub Copilot also familiar). The role is solo IC; you will lean on these tools as everyday accelerators for IaC authoring, code review, debugging, and platform automation — applied critically, with first-person technical judgement retained.

  • Understanding of MLOps and LLMOps principles.

  • Experience with big data and streaming technologies (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) is highly desirable. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).

  • Industry certifications preferred — e.g. CKA, CKAD, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional.

  • Exposure to security and compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, GDPR, and ISO 27001. In-depth experience is preferred but not required — the role includes ongoing development of this capability.

  • Strong independent work ethic with the capacity for sound, logical decision-making.

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Comfortable operating as a solo Individual Contributor embedded in a cross-functional team, balancing multiple competing priorities.
