About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the Lebanon programme:

MAG launched its Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) activities in Lebanon in 2017, in close coordination with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), the Ministry of Defense, PM/WRA, and the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. The program aims to enhance national security and stability by ensuring the safe storage, management, and disposal of weapons and ammunition, in line with international standards (IATG). Since its inception, MAG has constructed over 20 explosive storehouses (ESH)—creating more than 2,000 m² of safe storage space—and upgraded key sites. Beyond infrastructure, MAG has trained over 90 LAF personnel and conducted 66 site assessments to identify and mitigate high-risk areas. Looking ahead to 2025–2027, MAG plans to expand its work by building new ammunition depots in South Lebanon, strengthening national training facilities, and supporting the LAF in implementing sustainable, decentralized, and safe stockpile management systems, ultimately safeguarding lives and reinforcing Lebanon’s long-term security and resilience.

About the Jordan programme:

Building on MAG’s considerable experience of delivering PSSM interventions globally and elsewhere in the Middle East region, MAG has launched a new project to support the Jordanian Armed Forces’ (JAF) Sustainable Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM), to enhance regional security by reducing at-risk, illicitly proliferated, or indiscriminately used conventional weapons. MAG will work in partnership with the JAF to strengthen their munitions management capacity, enabling implementation of the JAF’s Munitions Infrastructure Master Plan.

About the role:

MAG is seeking experienced Technical Field Managers (TFMs) to support the implementation and safe delivery of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) activities in Lebanon and Jordan. This role will play a key operational leadership role in delivering technical training and supporting national authorities in improving ammunition safety and stockpile management practices.

The Technical Field Manager will support the implementation of WAM operations in accordance with MAG Standard Operating Procedures and international technical standards, working under the guidance of the WAM Technical Lead, Senior Technical Advisor and Regional WAM Operations Manager.

A core element of the role will be supporting the delivery of three International Ammunition Technical Courses across Lebanon and Jordan. These courses cover the full life cycle management of ammunition and explosives, from safe storage and inspection to risk reduction and disposal and are designed to strengthen national capacity in ammunition management.

The Technical Field Manager will contribute to the implementation of WAM activities including the application of International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATG), MOSAIC frameworks, and other relevant international standards. The role will support the development of national standards related to Small Arms and Light Weapons and Physical Security and Stockpile Management, helping to ensure that national practices align with recognised international guidance.

Working closely with national authorities and programme leadership, the Technical Field Manager will help ensure the safe execution of all technical activities in the countries of operation. This includes providing technical oversight during training delivery, supporting the safe management of technical materials and equipment, and contributing to operational risk management.

The role will also support the mentoring and development of national staff and government counterparts, strengthening local capacity in WAM operations and technical safety procedures. Technical Field Managers will contribute to programme reporting and documentation, producing technical reports, and providing operational feedback to programme leadership.

The position requires strong coordination with colleagues, national authorities, and partner organisations to ensure activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme objectives. Technical Field Managers will also participate in MAG’s WAM Community of Practice, contributing to organisational learning and technical exchange across programmes.
