CAD/CAM Programmer
Location: Richmond, VA
Schedule: Day Shift
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: Starting at $28+/hour depending on experience
We are hiring an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer with a strong machining background to support a growing manufacturing operation. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on programming, machine setup, process improvement, and quality-focused production work.
The selected candidate will support CNC machining operations by developing programs, optimizing production processes, troubleshooting machining issues, and assisting with setup and inspections.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software such as Fusion 360 or equivalent platforms
- Set up machines, tooling, feeds, and speeds for production runs
- Read and interpret G-code and M-code programs
- Perform first-piece inspections and verify product quality standards
- Utilize precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related inspection equipment
- Identify machining or production issues and implement corrective actions
- Work closely with operators and production personnel to improve efficiency and workflow
Required Experience
- Multiple years of hands-on machining experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2–5 years of CAM programming experience
- Experience with Fusion 360 preferred; comparable CAM software experience will also be considered
- Strong understanding of CNC machine setup and tooling adjustments
- Ability to perform quality inspections and maintain production accuracy
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming or operating HAAS CNC equipment
- Familiarity with GD&T principles
- Technical training or certification related to machining or CNC programming
- Ability to support or mentor less experienced team members
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
